Unlike Frank Sinatra

(2 minutes read)

In 1969 the famous north American singer Frank Sinatra popularized the song “My Way” in which he mentions his life’s struggles but ends up every verse stating: “I did it my way!”

Perhaps we don't know who Frank Sinatra was, but to want to do things our own way is something that we surely have in common with his famous song, as if we were the owners of the universe.

However we can only have a correct perspective of life when we accept that we are not the center of the universe, but rather, every thing evolves around its Creator from whom we must seek the instructions about how to live. If the bicycle’s axel is not centralized the ride gets bumpy, but if it is correctly centralized the ride becomes smooth and calm.

When we realize that we are not the focus point of the universe, but that the Creator so much loved us that he sent his son to die in our place, we begin having a correct self perspective, without over or under estimating ourselves.

Recognizing that the Creator made the universe, we also realize  that he made everyone at his image and resemblance. In fact, we respect the Creator when we truly respect his creation. Others become important to us as if they were our own family, for as we consider our own we start considering the others as well.

In truth, to do things our own way robs us the possibility to experience the fullness of life which is only possible when we do things another way, when we do things putting God and others before ourselves.

Life is short! Lets live it to its fullness chanting a different song than Frank Sinatra’s, lets sing it in a Christ centered way!

  • What have you done your way that could have been done differently?
  • How can you do things in a Christ centered way?

(The great commandment, Matthew22:34-40  /  Same mindset of Christ, Philippians 2:3-5)

    1. Our way always favours us not God sometimes. Even when we pray we want God to answer the way we like.

Oh how strange and divine, I can sing, "All is mine"
Yet not I, but through Christ in me
The night is dark but I am not forsaken
For by my side, the Saviour He will stay
I labour on in weakness and rejoicing
For in my need, His power is displayed
To this I hold, my Shepherd will defend me
Through the deepest valley He will lead
Oh the night has been won, and I shall overcome
Yet not I, but through Christ in me
